Through a play-based curriculum that fosters creativity, curiosity, and a love for learning, we aim to build a strong foundation for your child’s future.

Riverside School seeks to champion the ideals of Challenge, Community, and Care through every aspect of the School

Early Years Curriculum

At Riverside Early Years, we follow the Statutory Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework as set out by the Department for Education for England.

The Framework:

  • Sets the standards that all early years providers must meet to ensure that
  • Children learn and develop well.
  • Ensures children are kept healthy and safe.
  • Ensures children have the knowledge and skills they need to start school.

Development Matters

We enhance learning through rich indoor and outdoor experiences, guided by Development Matters, a non-statutory EYFS framework. This guidance helps us support children’s growth across ages and stages, providing a clear pathway for their progress. More information can be found in our Early Years Curriculum Guide.

Characteristics of Effective Learning

At Riverside, we understand that every child is unique and develops at their own pace. Our educators carefully plan and guide learning experiences to meet the individual needs of each student, recognizing the value and benefits of children learning through play. By embracing different learning styles and incorporating play-based activities, we create an environment where every child can thrive.

Skills for Life

At Riverside, we focus on equipping children with the essential skills for life, nurturing them into well-rounded global citizens. We believe that a strong foundation in both academic and personal development is crucial for their future success. Through a variety of new experiences, both within the school and in the local and wider community, children are given opportunities to broaden their horizons. These experiences are designed to encourage curiosity, foster a sense of responsibility, and develop important life skills such as communication, collaboration, and problem-solving.

Everyday Essentials

We believe in creating a well-rounded experience for children by focusing on healthy habits, a love for learning, and meaningful family partnerships.
